And then maybe you should listen and be inspired by Katy Perry’s own ode to the Beat Generation.

Lizzy Acker on We Who Are About To Die

In D.W. Lichtenberg’s series “We Who Are Now Published Authors,” Small Desk Press author Lizzy Acker talks about her new (& amazing) first book, Monster Party:

“There are a lot of things in the book that I am just too much of a wuss to do in real life but WRITING about doing them is nearly as satisfying because with an imagination you can feel the consequences at two thirds power.  Maybe this is why people write at all?  To organize their brains and experiment with lives they are having/want to have/are scared to have/are too ugly to have/are too poor to have?”

The Haunted House Reviewed at The Rumpus

Here’s my favorite excerpt from Maree Hamilton’s lovely review of my book over at The Rumpus:

“…you can follow Crawford’s rambling thoughts as far as they go—almost too far!—but they always stop right where they need to. She retains a certain precision, a polished offhandedness, similar to what she is alluding to in “Yum Poison Apple”: “I / spent all morning getting the I slept in my makeup look.” It appears that she churned these out as some do diary pages, but upon closer inspection, they are the product of a poet with a firm grasp on her craft (similar to the way being a teenage girl looks like fun and games and lipstick, but is a more serious and difficult undertaking).”
